Newcastle ‘monitoring Khephren Thuram’s situation’ but face transfer battle with PSG for Nice midfielder

KHEP’N TRACK NEWCASTLE are reportedly monitoring OC Nice star Khephren Thuram ahead of a summer move.

The Magpies are outlining the club’s summer transfer plans should the side qualify for European football.

And according to The Athletic, Eddie Howe is interested in adding Thuram to his squad.

The French international is also ‘liked’ by Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickson.

The report also suggests that Thuram is a more realistic option to West Ham’s Declan Rice, who the club would “love”, but would be to expensive.

Thuram has impressed in Ligue 1 this season having scored twice and assisted four goals in his 28 league appearances from the midfield.

The Premier League side however will have to compete with PSG for the midfielder’s signature, according to Telefoot.

If he were to move to the Stade de France then he would be linking back up with his former manager Christophe Galtier.

Both Newcastle and PSG are also believed to be interested signing Thuram’s brother, Marcus.

The Borussia Monchengladbach striker is out of contract at the end of the season and will be available on a free transfer.

However, it is expected that he will be in high demand and could ask for a high financial package from interested clubs.

This is because he has scored 15 goals and provided four assists in only 26 games this season.
