Anhony Martial will not be available for Manchester United against Tottenham but Christian Eriksen could return against his former club.
Martial has been troubled by a back injury he sustained against Everton on October 9 and he is due to miss his 10th game of United’s 14 this term.
Eriksen missed the goalless draw with Newcastle on Sunday but resumed training on Tuesday and will be assessed on the day of the game to determine whether he starts.
United manager Erik ten Hag suggested Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan-Bissaka would return to training this week after their lay-offs.
“Anthony Martial is not available,” Ten Hag said. “He’s back on the pitch but not in the team training. Christian Eriksen returned in the team training today and we have to see how that works out, how he will recover, if he has the energy tomorrow, so we have to wait for that.
“I know [Eriksen] a long time because everyone knows he developed at Ajax, I knew him from the Netherlands but as a manager, I faced him, I know his capabilities and know his importance for our game.
“They (other absentees) are making good progress and they will all return in team training this week.”
Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe have been sidelined through injury since July and are not expected to return before the domestic season is halted for the World Cup, which starts on November 20.
“I see good progress from Brandon Williams,” Ten Hag added. “He returned on the pitch, individual base. Axel is still working inside, he is not back on the pitch, I think it will be difficult for Axel to return before Christmas.
