REAL MADRID have been reported by Getafe for an alleged “illegal rule breach” that could see their 1-0 win last Saturday overturned.
The LaLiga giants beat their local rivals courtesy of Marco Asensio’s 70th minute effort.
Alvaro Odriozola appeared to enter the pitch as Marco Asensio was initially subbed
Eduardo Camavinga was forced off with an injury
Getafe feel they have grounds to overturn the result, however, as they feel Madrid botched a late substitution.
Boss Carlo Ancelotti brought Alvaro Odriozola on for injured ace Eduardo Camavinga on 84 minutes.
Odriozola had initially been due to replace Asensio, before it was determined that Camavinga would have to be taken off.
Getafe believe that the substitution shouldn’t have been allowed, however, as TV images appeared to show that Odriozola had entered the field when replacing Asensio.
Rules dictate a substitution to have been completed “when the substitute enters the field of play”.
He have submitted an official complaint to the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
Real Madrid will have three days to respond to allegations.
And should they be found guilty, opponents Getafe could be awarded a 3-0 win.
Rules also state that “Once substituted, a player cannot re-join the match”.
Getafe feel that Asensio had been substituted, and therefore should not have been able to re-enter the game.
Should they be stripped of their three points, Madrid would fall a point behind rivals Atletico and down to third place with four games remaining.
Although it would have no bearing on the title race, with Barcelona having already won the league at a canter.
