There is pandemonium in the Shasha area of Ibadan as some traders are involved in a bloody fight.
According to those who visited Shasha, police patrol cars and emergency vehicles were seen driving into the market where the fight was said to have taken place.
Residents also said that many security officers had come to the epicentre of the violence to put it out.
Some of them claimed that some kiosks and a house were destroyed, but the claims about the cause of the fight could not be immediately verified.
But some Yoruba traders told our correspondent that they could not take the goods (tomatoes and pepper) they bought on Friday morning just before the fighting started.
Residents of the area told our correspondent that the fighting started on Wednesday night but turned violent on Friday morning when a man was allegedly beaten by a Hausa man with an amulet while the fight was dying.
Some of them said that the woman accidentally splashed water on the Hausa trader who hit her and this led to a fight that resulted in the death of the Yoruba man this morning.
The stores were hastily closed while the traders who had not bought anything fled the area, but the presence of security operatives had brought some measure of sanity to the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, did not take calls and was yet to respond to the message sent to him on the incident.
