A Secondary School in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State has been attacked by bandits.
An eyewitness told Daily Trust that the incident occurred around 11:30am on Wednesday September 1, when the students were writing examination.
The resident of the community said;
“They blocked the doors to the classrooms and asked the students to step out.
“Some of the students managed to escape the assault by jumping out of classrooms through the windows to hide inside nearby sorghum plantations.”
The Zamfara state government which has now confirmed the abduction but yet to ascertain the number of students kidnapped, ordered the immediate closure of primary and secondary schools in the state.
Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkana conveyed the governor’s directive while addressing journalists on the new security measures in the state.
Elkana said;

When asked how many students were abducted, the commissioner of police replied saying;
“I don’t know.”
Channels Television also reported that the state government restricted movement from 6pm to 6am in 13 local government areas. In Gusau, the state capital, movement restriction will be from 8pm to 6am.
