Alonso claimed after the match that he was getting called a “little rat” during the explosive end to the derby.

Addressing the incident on Sky Sportsafter the match, he said: “As you can see from there [the pictures], someone came in from behind.

“I never talk to him the whole game. It’s always disappointing to concede a goal in the last minute. I totally get it. I was called a little rat, I don’t know why.

Rangers boss Malky Thomson revealed when asked for his perspective that he would launch a probe

Scotland captain Rachel Corsie said: “It’s a bad incident. We’ve obviously seen the replay and you can see he looks animated, so it suggests there’s maybe something prior to that.

“But either way that can’t be happening in football at all. It’s disappointing. As Malky [Thomson] said, it leaves a sour taste a little bit on what’s been otherwise a really great spectacle, a great game, a great occasion.”

The police, SFA, Rangers and Celtic have been contacted for comment on the incident.
