The game was huge in the battle for a spot in next season’s Champions League and Brighton were left raging after decisions did not go their way.

They saw goals by Kaoru Mitoma and Danny Welbeck both ruled out for offside and were then denied a penalty when the Japanese winger was tripped in the box by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The referees and VAR were slammed by club captain Lewis Dunk in an X-rated interview.

And after the game, the PGMOL apologized to Brighton for not awarding them a spot-kick.

It is not the first time they have got a sorry from the officials after they had a goal chalked off versus Crystal Palace that was wrongly given as offside.
