Fans spot Brighton coach laughing at Stellini after Tottenham interim manager’s stunned reaction to red card
FANS were left in stitches after Brighton assistant Andrea Maldera was seen laughing at Cristian Stellini following his red card.
The Tottenham interim boss and Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi were sent off after both sets of coaching staff were involved in a huge touchline bust up.
Referee Stuart Attwell gave both their marching orders in the second-half of the game that Spurs won 2-1.
Stellini was not involved in the dugout fight but saw red after taking the rap for his coaches’ behaviour.
Antonio Conte’s former assistant looked baffled when he was dismissed, leaving Maldera giggling at him.
Fans found it hilarious, as one tweeted: “Haha look at the Brighton coach laughing in the background.”
Another reacted: “I love him.”
A third commented: “The best thing about De Zerbi getting angry is Maldera trying not to laugh.”
The game was huge in the battle for a spot in next season’s Champions League and Brighton were left raging after decisions did not go their way.
They saw goals by Kaoru Mitoma and Danny Welbeck both ruled out for offside and were then denied a penalty when the Japanese winger was tripped in the box by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
