Benjamin Mendy is Manchester City and France international defender who plays as a left-back for Premier League and France international team, has been charged yet again with another count of rape, making the number of charges the defender is facing to seven.
This allegations of rape and one of sexual assault against five different women is becoming severe and seemed not to die down anytime soon.
Mendy was charged few days ago for the latest count of rape but was subject to reporting restrictions.
The latest charge, announced on Wednesday, 5th January, 2022 relates to a woman and is alleged to have taken place in July last year.
Earlier charges are said to have happened between October 2020 and August 2021.
The 27-year-old defender appeared alongside his co-defendant, Louis Saha Matturie, who is also accused of serious sexual offences against women sonce the report came to lime light.
Both the defendants’ legal teams have appealed to have the charges dismissed.
Mendy’s opportunity to get bailed was initially abolished and he has been held as a hostage at Altcourse prison in Liverpool since his arrest last August.
But the Bailing decision was turned around for Mendy’s favor as he was on Friday, 7th January, 2022., freed on bail by a court in northwest England.
Judge Patrick Thompson granted bail to the 27-year-old defender at a hearing at Chester Crown Court subject to “stringent” conditions, including the surrender of his passport.
Although, he was suspended by Manchester City when he was charged last summer in order to protect the image of the club.
The International defender joined Manchester City from Monaco in 2017 and has won the Premier League three times. He has made a total of ten appearances for the French national team.
Benjamin Mendy is due to go on trial this year. And further arrangements and investigations are put in place and details will be made known to the public soon but for now, let’s see how long the current Bail procedure will go.
